Vim navigation

Ruby keyword arguments

Rules for Vim navigation are simple:

1. You cannot use your mouse cursor
2. Press H to move left
3. Press J to move down
4. Press K to move up
5. Press L to move right

If you just started to work with Vim navigation it may be hard to remember which key is responsible for given direction. I explained the order to myself using following rules:

  • H – is the most on the left so it moves cursor left
  • L – is the most on the right so it moves cursor right, it also is turned into right
  • J – like jump
  • K – like kick the ball higher
  • If you have better ways to remember the order, share them in a comment!
